     WHAT’S NEW IN ALLE-KISKI TODAY

     Making Every Day Count
     http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/articles/1873

Unless you are a parent of a physically challenged child, it
is nearly impossible to fathom the time involved in even the
smallest of tasks. Mr. Tom Toland, a Pre-Calculus teacher at
Kiski Area High School, has first hand knowledge of this
     challenge.

     Amazing Faith
     http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/articles/1866

Every Sunday morning across the Alle-Kiski Valley thousands
upon thousands of men, women and children rise from their warm
comfortable beds to attend local church services. They go to
worship with their neighbors, their friends and family. Their
faith, no matter how neglected by the media and modern
society, is the very underpinning of our region. Their
devotion to God and their faithful service to our communities
are fundamental to the life we enjoy here in the valley.

                         PUBLISH YOUR OWN NEWS

You can now publish your own news. Alle-Kiski Today has
launched a new program that permits you to publish community
and personal news stories of interest to the public.

Alle-Kiski Today welcomes all articles, news stories and
pictures about your organization, church, civic group,
government entity, public safety, school, hospitals,
businesses and other community groups for publication. You may
also submit news about anniversaries, birthdays, employment
promotions, obituaries and other appropriate personal or
family news. You write your story and submit it with any
photos you may have. You can submit stories under many
     categories such as:

General Local News; Announcements; Business Stories; Business
     Announcements;  Health  &  Fitness; Home  &  Garden;  Fashion;
     Community  Service; Culture; Dining; Finance; Sports;  Events;
     Religion;   Obituaries;   Weddings;   Births;   Anniversaries;
     Entertainment;  Fire Blotter; Police Blotter; Human  Interest;
     Politics; Education and Opinion.

For the first time you have the ability to have appropriate
news published. Organizations that want to communicate news
about their events, build membership and tell the public what
is happening can have immediate access to publishing their
story. Boroughs, Cities and Townships can start communicating
important government information to their citizens. Churches
can get the news out about events being held or special
services. Businesses can let the public know about employee
promotions, new hires, added products and services.

School Administrators, Principals and teachers may now publish
news about their schools, classrooms, sports, clubs, and
student achievements. With over 30,000 students in 13 School
Districts covered by Alle-Kiski Today, these schools can now
get their news out that day. Classroom teachers that have
great enrichment programs and class projects can publish their
     story.

There is no end to the type of news you can publish! Tell the
communities about your new baby, your wedding, wedding
anniversaries, and the many Silver, Golden and other age
anniversaries. Health facilities can tell us about their
programs and new services being offered. Publish reports about
fires and police events. Why wait one or two days when you can
     get the news out now.

You not only may publish your own stories, but you may post
photos to go with the stories. Color and black and white
photos may be used, scanned or digital. It’s easy. We give you
a simple form to fill out and put your story up. Go to:

            http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/submit/news.html

This is the best of the Internet! Starting right now you have
the ability to publish your own stories. Everyone may be a
reporter and the community benefits from reading and learning
     more from each other.

Alle-Kiski Today motto is, “There’s no better place to live”
than in the Alle-Kiski region. Today you can tell everyone why
     that’s true.

     INTERNET NEWS

     Paypal woes
The classic example of a business message getting trapped as
Spam are genuine messages from Paypal. It is not Paypal’s
fault that so many phishing messages are going out – there’s
little they can do to stop this pest, they can only warn
people about bogus messages. But the influx of fake Paypal
missives means that genuine Paypal messages are getting
trapped as Spam or people are ignoring real messages because
it’s hard to tell the difference between the real ones and
all the fakes. [Source: EMAIL Essentials]

     OUR LOCAL HERITAGE
     http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/articles/archives/8

Abandoned Railroad Tunnel In Hyde Park: On the outskirts of
Hyde Park a caved-in entrance to an opening in the hillside
can be found. It is one end of an old abandoned railroad
tunnel that extends nearly ¾ mile underneath Hyde Park.
Operating through the 1860's, the tunnel was deserted when
the rail line was extended to wrap along the banks of the
Kiski. Children in the area were known to ice skate by the
light of lanterns inside the neglected tunnel where water
drained and froze. Read more interesting history at Our Local
Heritage at above site. Click on “Archives” for a list of
     history tidbits.
