     OUR LOCAL HERITAGE
     http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/articles/archives/8

THE FIRST: Conrad Weiser, a German frontiersman, scout and
civic figure who spent several years with the Seneca tribe, is
believed to have been one of the first recorded white men in
the Kiski Valley. He recorded in his journal sometime between
the 1740s and 1760s that he crossed "Kiskeminetoes creek"
reaching the Allegheny River later that day. He may have well
been returning from negotiations with Indians near Kittanning.
