OUR LOCAL HERITAGE
http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/articles/archives/8
THE FIRST: It is unclear who was the first European passing
through the Kiski Valley; though there are several
possibilities. The first unrecorded visit may have been French
fur traders, who later developed an alliance with the natives
here. The French eventually established a fort at the junction
of the 3 rivers, the Allegheny, the Monongahela, and the Ohio.
We know it today as Fort Pitt. Read more interesting history
at Our Local Heritage at above site. Click on Archives for a
list of history tidbits.
