     http://alle-kiskitoday.com/articles/1688

It was a rough season last winter for Coach Greg Fox’s Vikings
varsity basketball squad. They found themselves on the losing
side way more often than not. But the players didn’t give up
and have kept up the pace since last season.

Map Reveals New Light On Apollo's Beginning (Part 2)
These maps would mean that the Apollo name is at least dated
to 1834. That in turn means people were calling it Apollo at
least 14 years early than previously believed. If one
considers that at that time it took months to travel and
gather information (in this case of first maps, finding out
what locals called an area), and months, if not years, to
produce and print a book such as an atlas, then it could
easily be assumed that the Apollo name dates back to 1832 or
so. And remember, this is only 5 years after the town got its
own post office, called 'Warren'. Smith in his Armstrong
County history makes an odd statement commenting on not
knowing why Apollo was named what it was named, right after he
was discussing Warren getting a post office. He then
speculates that the Postmaster General maybe came up with 'the
classical name' after some citizen or something had 'Apollo'-
like qualities (Apollo being a god in Greek and Roman
     mythology). Who knows?
But at least Apollo can claim it has been on the map for 168
years now… Read more interesting history at Our Local Heritage

     iPod Lounge
     http://www.ipodlounge.com/

iPodLounge is a user run site that highlights anything and
everything about the iPods. Here you can find the latest user
information, technical updates, reviews, accessories, and
news. It is well designed, broken up into sections for the
various models, such as the iPod mini, and all four
generations of players. They currently are covering the newly
discovered iPod Photo Diagnostic Mode, as well as other 4G
iPod secrets. There are educational areas as well, teaching
basic to advanced ways to use the device (such as copying
music from the iPod to your computer and vice versa). There
is an excellent forums area, where the true user interactions
happen. If you have a question, ask it here, and you will
most likely have an answer within a day (if not hours).

     Google Scholar
     http://scholar.google.com/

The world of online "scholarly" research is changing today as
Google introduces Google Scholar. This specialized new
interface -- which will NOT be linked from Google's main
search page -- will allow users to search a treasure chest of
"scholarly material." Some basic facts: In a nutshell,
Google has built an algorithm that makes a calculated guess
at to *what it thinks* is a scholarly content mined from the
OPEN WEB, and then makes it accessible via the Google Scholar
     interface.
