OUR LOCAL HERITAGE
http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/
Kingston Corn Field: The Burrell Improvement Company in 1891
bought land in then-Lower Burrell Township. In June, that
year in what was to be the new town of Kingston, free trips
were given to Pittsburghers, and for 3 days 15,000 came to
visit rows of corn. But people bought $135,000 worth of land-
-big bucks then. This new Kingston soon became known by the
name we know today: New Kensington. Read more interesting
history at Our Local Heritage at above site. Click on
Archives for a list of history tidbits.
