     OUR LOCAL HERITAGE
     www.kiskivalley.com/features/features.shtml?feature=heritage

Raid at Roaring Run: 10 years of attacks at their Plum Creek
home had sent the Sharps back to Kentucky. 3 families fled
with them down the Kiski in May 1794. Reaching Roaring Run
(outside present-day Apollo) at nightfall, the group tried but
never made it ashore. Indians killed several, and wounded the
remaining men. Mrs. Sharp quickly rowed the boat away, barely
escaping with her own life. They didn't know they'd stopped at
a Native American 'gateway' crossing into Indian territory.

     http://www.nytimes.com/navigator/

Navigator is the home page used by the newsroom of The New
York Times for forays into the Web. Its primary intent is to
give reporters and editors new to the Web a solid starting
point for a wide range of journalistic functions without
forcing all of them to spend time wandering around blindly to
find a useful set of links of their own. Its secondary purpose
is to show people that there's still a lot of fun and useful
stuff going on out there. (Free registration required).
