     MAN  ON  A MISSION AN AK FIRST: A man named Arnout Viele  was
     the  first  recorded European to pass through the  Alle-Kiski
     Valley  in 1692. On a mission to the Ohio River for  the  New
     York  governor,  he  led a group down  the  Allegheny  River,
     passing  where present-day Tarentum sits next to Bull  Creek.
