     OUR LOCAL HERITAGE
     www.alle-kiskitoday.com

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church history, “The Church On The
Hill”, began almost at the same time as New Kensington
itself. The Pittsburgh Reduction Company moved 17 miles up
the Allegheny River in 1891 and changed its name to the
Aluminum Company of America. Many people came and among them
were Episcopalians. A mission was established in 1896 as The
Church of The Savior under both Trinity Church in Pittsburgh
and Freeport. The first Church building was dedicated in 1902
and renamed St. Andrew’s. Located in the center of town on
Eighth Street, the church once again began a move in 1947 to
its present location on Edgewood Road, aside of Alcoa’s
Building. Read more interesting history by clicking on “Our
Local Heritage” online. Click on “Archives” for a list of
     history tidbits.
