The day camp is a Christian-based challenge camp for elementary children, which features a low-ropes course, a slip and slide, and mountain boarding with additional challenge elements being added in future years.

For nearly 100 years it has been the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. Less than 4 percent of all boys who enter Boy Scouts get the rank, whose requirements include years of service to the community and troop, and proving competency in at least 21 different fields ranging from emergency medical help to leadership to water rescue to politics at the local, national and world levels. And now in Troop 545 of Vandergrift another young man, Stephen J. Laero, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout to become his Troop's eighth Eagle in its 10-year existence.
